Delmarva Dance was founded in 2005 by Alice Hajjar.
For years, Alice frequently traveled to and
vacationed at the Eastern shore beaches. After many
unsuccessful attempts to find a place to ballroom dance on the Eastern
shore, she decided to look for a facility in which to teach and
host regular dances. She contacted the Mid-Shore Family YMCA in Salisbury, MD,
and they were
very enthusiastic about offering ballroom dance instruction for their
membership. A partnership was formed and classes began in September
2005. Based on successful enrollment for 3 months, additional classes as
well as private lessons have been offered at that location ever since. In
addition to Salisbury, she now offers dance instruction in Selbyville, Delaware, and Ocean City, Maryland.
Group
lessons and private dance instruction are provided solely by Alice Hajjar.
A resident of Frederick, Maryland, Alice travels to the Eastern Shore to
teach private lessons and group classes.
When Alice began dancing in 1999, she quickly learned that ballroom dancing was
her passion. She has trained with and been coached by ISTD-certified (Imperial
Society of Teachers of Dancing) instructors. After receiving
beginner teacher training at Ballroom
Dance in Frederick in Frederick,
Maryland, she taught there from 2002-2004. From 2004-2005, she taught
private lessons from her home in Jefferson, Maryland, and from 2005-2007
she taught private lessons and group classes at Dancing Made Easy
in Westminster, Maryland. She continues to take extensive teacher training with Dave Hansel
at Dancing Made Easy,
and she has received additional instruction and training from Lynne Hansel, Craig Bukowski,
and Mary Botta.
